What is the Internet? Who invented the Internet? How does the Internet actually work? Is the Internet dangerous?
The Internet was born from decades of research and development by individuals and companies all across the United States. It was created as a way for individuals from all around the world to connect through networks. At its core, the Internet is a global system that connects people through packet switching technology. It consists of computer networks which are accessible over a public network of data with internet access cards. These computers are connected through a router which allows packets of information to be exchanged between them and how the information is transmitted back down the network to the computer or server where it is received and stored. This is how the Internet works.
The Internet has become integral to how we do business in the 21st century. No longer are we locked into a one-way connection to the web. We can use the Internet for communication, entertainment and data transfer in much the same way that we communicate with friends, family, coworkers and associates. Email, chat rooms, instant messaging and even social networking are all still used on the Internet; however, we can now do so from anywhere in the world with the aid of web browsers such as internet explorer and Firefox.
While the Internet is an international phenomenon, the majority of people who surf the net are located in the United States and Canada. There are many people from these two countries that are not aware that the Internet even exists outside of the two countries. There are many internet applications that are available that are based on html, although there are also applications and networks based on Java and shell programming. Some examples of popular internet applications include Java, Perl and Python. There are also many software programs that are available such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Microsoft Office. Because of this, there are many people from the United States and Canada that are familiar with the web and the Internet, but many are unaware that these things exist outside their own borders.
One of the main differences between a person who lives in the United States and a person who live in Canada is their Internet access. In the US, a person must have a particular internet service provider in order to access the World Wide Web. Many internet providers offer packages that are tailored to the needs of Americans in order to promote local businesses. This means that a person who lives in the United States can purchase an unlimited package that includes movies, music and television and download it for no additional cost to American users. Because most residents of the United States have access to a cable or DSL service, they are very likely already familiar with this type of Internet connection.
On the other side of the coin, many people outside of the United States are unfamiliar with the concept of “cloud computing”. A customer’s data is stored on a third party server, such as Amazon’s cloud computing service, rather than being stored on their local hard drive. This type of service is often referred to as “platform remote access” or “cloud computing remote access”. In a nutshell, cloud computing allows a user to access their own data from any Internet connection at any time. When a user logs off of the internet, the data stored on the third party server is not lost forever, but is only “deleted”, making it extremely difficult to retrieve a person’s data from another location.
